Theme Party Ideas

Blues Clues Birthday
Saturday, November 25, 2000
You can deduce that Blues Clues makes for one of the most fun and easy themes in the handy-dandy notebook!

Costumes:
When I saw a neighborhood kid wearing a Blue Costume for Halloween, I asked if I could borrow it so Ashlyn could wear it at her Blues Clues party. The idea of kids wearing costumes to their birthday parties was BORN!

I also made Doug’s ‘Steve’ costume and he was a big hit at the party, running around playing ‘dumb’ for the kids to tell him what to do.

We asked guests to come wearing blue to get into the mood, and much to my surprise everyone did. Some of the more spirited adults even came wearing blue nail polish and lipstick. This became the origin of asking our guests to get into the spirit by wearing specific clothing.

Decorations:
Blow-up Thinking chair (Toys-r-us)
Stuffed blue toy (Target)
Blue balloons
Blues Clues picture frames over existing art (yellow art paper available by the yard from Wishing well)

Food:
Everything I could find that was blue!
Blue punch
Blue tortilla chips
Blue jello
Yellow Sun (taquitos with cheese dip in the center)
Blue cups, plates, forks
Blues Clues Cake (courtesy Britta Peterson: one round cake and 4 small cakes to make a paw print, cake and frosting dyed blue)

Games:
Blues Clues (put paw prints scattered around the house as clues, provided handy dandy notebooks for kids to draw clues) note: I think the question was ‘what is Ashlyn’s favorite thing to do’ and I had clues on the TV, the couch, and the Wallace and Gromit DVD
Pin the Pawprint on Blue
