Snow White and the 7th Birthday for Ashlyn
Saturday, November 27, 2004
Castles, dwarves, and a black wig make for a great birthday theme!

Invitations:
I took the scraps from the metallic posterboard (mentioned below) and pasted it in the center of a ‘mirror’ graphic on the front of the invitation, writing ‘Mirror Mirror on the wall, who’s invited to the fairest birthday party of them all’, and on the inside wrote ‘YOU ARE!’

Costumes:
Ashlyn’s costume was, eep, store bought (though at $25 for this nice a costume from Costco, it was well worth it). The black wig (Wishing well) really sells the costume.

Doug got to reuse his dwarf boots/pants, and we made 6 other felt hats with attached ‘beards’ and fake belts (easy!) to transform other family members into the remaining dwarves. We gave them name tags (laminated print outs with pin backings on the back) to tell them apart.

Britta was the biggest hit as the wicked Queen, which she made from a cape, a graduation robe, a plastic crown, and homemade hood and cowel.

We asked guests to come in prince/princess attire. They were all too happy to reuse former Halloween costumes, and we ended up with a Princess Jasmine, a Renaissance princess, a fairy princess, another Snow White, and even a Prince Charming!

We furnished them with crowns they got to decorate themselves with stickers, jewels, and glitter glue (Oriental Trading).

Decorations:
Castle Photo Wall: stone wall paper (local party store--$15), home-made Mirror Mirror on the Wall (metallic posterboard adorned with painted black posterboard and fake jewels), Stained glass (fabric creation borrowed from a friend), & candle stands

Snow White posters, books, toys
