Halloween Costume

I was inspired to come up with my own versions of Lumiere and Babette, the magical candelabra and feather duster characters from Beauty and the Beast.

Lumiere was constructed with a sheet of $1 foam core, clearance silver fabric ($5 for 1.5 yards), crystal edging ($5 total using a coupon), and leftover pearl strings. His ‘candleholders’ are made from fabric attached to posterboard using spray adhesive, and real candles (leftover from our wedding!) attached through fondue forks and topped with battery-powered tealights ($1.50 each with coupon). His Bach wig, a pin-striped shirt (free at a garage sale!), and his tail coat were all it took to complete the costume. $14!

The Babette costume was constructed around a thrift-store formal black dress (only $4 on a 50% off everything in the store day). The feather boas were an inexpensive find because they are ‘kid-length’ boas, cut in thirds, and purchased by the dozen online for under $1 each (this costume used 8 of them, the other 4 I used for Ashlyn’s Hollywood Party). A fun wig, black gloves, and the apron from my French Maid costume and “Voila!” $12.597D30F0-04A4-11DC-9D6C-000D93520F52.html4136C2CC-0445-11DC-9D6C-000D93520F52.html4136C2CC-0445-11DC-9D6C-000D93520F52.htmlshapeimage_2_link_0shapeimage_2_link_1shapeimage_2_link_2shapeimage_2_link_3
