Theme Party Costume

When our friend wanted a science fiction theme for her 30th birthday party, and I was nearly 8 months pregnant with Kian, the choice for our costumes was pretty obvious! "Star Wars, Episode VII!" Doug has always wanted to be Han Solo anyway.

Han's costume is put together from biking pants, a women's white shirt, a women's vest, and a leather purse (cut up for his holster, which adorned a worn-out belt we kept for this occasion) all found at Goodwill. The gun is a painted squirt gun from Toys-R-Us (did you know that all play guns are neon colored now so that they aren't indistinguishable from real ones!?).

The leather purse also got used for Ashlyn's Jawa pouches--the remainder of her costume is from clearance fabric ($1 for the lot) and a Star Wars Belt found at Kay Bee (on clearance for $1).

Princess Tracia here had her Leia costume constructed from a pattern for an Angel (pattern $1, but fabric was at least $10!), and a belt from Salvation Army ($1). The hair is courtesy Britta Peterson, who integrated fake hair into my own. http://www.britta.com/shapeimage_2_link_0
