Mardi Gras Costume
 
 
When I found this great gold turban hat at Wishing well for about $5, I knew that's what I wanted Doug to wear for Mardi Gras!  I put him in my "preggie Leia" costume from 2001, added a blue scarf (trivia: from UCD Chorus performance attire c. 1991), got a $1 plastic scimitar, and made a matching mask out of jewels and glitter glue (the blue jewel on the hat is an upside down heart, and I used another one on my own purchased mask to coordinate our costumes). He wore his birkenstock-style sandals and let his beard grow for a week and pulled his longer hair back in a ponytail to complete the "scoundrel" effect (so ironic, since he's wearing a dress!)
